About Janie

The person behind Janie’s Balanced Path

I’m Janie, and my work has grown from many different parts of my life — teaching, coaching, business, gardening, writing and spiritual development.

What connects them all is a love of helping women untangle what feels overwhelming and find a way forward that feels clearer, calmer and more manageable. I believe support should feel practical, personal and realistic, not like another list of things you’re expected to get right.

A balanced path looks different for everyone.

My Story

I never really fitted into just one box

Teaching has been part of my life for many years, but I’ve always been someone who wants to understand more. If I’m interested in something, I tend to study it properly, explore how it works and then find ways to use that knowledge in everyday life.

Over the years that curiosity has taken me into psychology, coaching, business, gardening, wellbeing, spirituality, writing and many other areas of study. At first they may have looked like completely separate interests, but gradually I began to see how closely connected they really are.

Life rarely becomes overwhelming in just one neat little category. Confidence can affect business. A cluttered home can affect how you feel. A neglected garden can become another source of pressure. Work, relationships, wellbeing, purpose and the quieter parts of life all influence one another.

That understanding became the heart of Janie’s Balanced Path. Rather than expecting women to divide themselves into separate pieces, I wanted to create a space where we could look at the whole picture and work out what would genuinely make life feel clearer and more manageable.

I’ve never believed that everyone needs the same answer. Sometimes the most useful thing is simply finding the next right step for you.

What I’m Like to Work With

Support that feels thoughtful, practical and personal

I don’t believe in pushing people through a fixed formula. I prefer to understand what is really going on, look at the bigger picture and help you find a way forward that fits your life.

1

I notice the details

I’m naturally detail-focused, which means I often notice the smaller pieces that are adding to the bigger feeling of overwhelm.

2

I keep things practical

Insight matters, but so does knowing what to do next. I like turning complicated situations into clear and manageable steps.

3

I look at the whole picture

Home, work, confidence, business, wellbeing and the way you feel about yourself often overlap. I don’t pretend they exist separately.

4

I work with you, not at you

You won’t be expected to squeeze yourself into someone else’s version of success. We work from where you are and build from there.

The Things That Matter to Me

I believe life should feel like yours

I’m not interested in creating a perfect life that looks impressive from the outside. I care much more about whether your life actually feels right for you.

That means having space to think, confidence in your own decisions and enough balance that everything doesn’t constantly feel urgent. It also means being able to enjoy the ordinary parts of life instead of always feeling as though you should be doing something else.

These ideas shape the way I live and the way I work with other women. Progress matters, but so do peace, curiosity, enjoyment and having room to be yourself along the way.

Clarity Understanding what really matters instead of trying to deal with everything at once.
Confidence Learning to trust your judgement and make choices that feel right for you.
Balance Making space for different parts of life without expecting yourself to do everything perfectly.
Enjoyment Remembering that life is meant to contain things you genuinely like, not just responsibilities.

Life Beyond Work

The quieter things matter too

Work is only one part of my life. I’m happiest when there’s time for the things that help me slow down, switch off and enjoy the ordinary moments.

I love gardening, reading and writing, and I’m also very fond of crochet and knitting. There’s something wonderfully calming about making something slowly with your hands and watching it take shape.

And then there are the dogs. Angel and Lucky are very much part of everyday life and have a habit of appearing whenever they think something interesting might be happening.

A Little Background

Years of learning, teaching and doing

My work has been shaped by many years of teaching, study, coaching, business experience and continued learning across the subjects and areas I work in.

I’ve always believed that understanding something properly matters. That’s why I’ve continued studying throughout my working life, whether that has been psychology, education, business, gardening, wellbeing or spiritual development.

I don’t use qualifications as a badge to impress people. For me, they’re part of the background knowledge that helps me ask better questions, spot connections and offer support with more context.

I’m still learning. I hope I always will be.
